Echinacea, like an education, is a longer term investment. Echinacea roots take 3-4 years to be ready medicinally.

Prospective students should be aware that as participants go through our program, they make a commitment for one year at a time. All enrollment contracts are renewed each year as students elect to continue progressing through the program.
Deposits for 2nd and 3rd year ND and Master Herbalist programs are made in summer for the upcoming fall term, in the amount of $1,000.00- at this time the student registers for the upconming term by signing a new enrollment contract. All balances are due by August 30.
Students should expect to pay the tuition rates given below, and if they qualify, they may enter the contractual Payment Plan program we offer for an entry deposit of $2,500.00, with reasonable contiguous monthly payments starting at the first month of class.
TUITION DISCOUNTS- As of Fall, 2011, the school offers a $500.00 discount to any students paying, in full, their tuition by June 15 for their First Year.
TUITION RATE FOR Incoming 2013 CORE PROGRAM CYCLE
beginning 2013, graduating 2016:
$8,200.00 (1st yr), $7,700 (2nd yr) and $7,200 (3rd yr)
Please note that these are rates for standard registration. Late registration tuition rates are $300.00 higher. See Admissions page for Schedules of Registration.
All payment-plan deposits or tuition payments must be fully paid at least one month prior to the start date of class, to qualify for standard (rather than "late" ) tution rates. All Payment Plan contracts must be completed and signed.
Our payment plan options may be a good choice for many who would customarily consider student loans - this option helps students avoid the challenge of high loan balances to pay back, with increasing interest rates.
If working with agencies, prospective students are expected to contact the agencies on their own. Students are also encouraged to seek their own private loan arrangement. MICHIGAN WORKS /No Worker Left Behind is a program which may give up to $10,000.00 for education- contact your local agency for details. We do not accept credit cards as payment for tuition from agencies or individuals.
VETERANS Financial Aid- if you are a veteran or otherwise qualify for military service benefits, there appears to be a new development in policy for tuition approval. In short, contact us, and contact YOUR veteran's administration agency, so that the officials working with you understand that this is a State Licensed School. We may be able to work something out, within the context of their policies.
PAYMENT PLANS THROUGH THE SCHOOL
With your $2,500.00 initial payment, we offer a Payment Plan contractual option, for the payment plan, the school adds a supplemental charge for taking on outside debt. The debt carry charge is considered an entry charge which is divided into the monthly payments. A general figure for monthly payments, AFTER making the initial qualityfying payment of $2,500.00, is about $408.00- $500.00+ for 12 continguous months for the first year of the ND program or the Massage Therapy program. It is also possible to discuss customized payment plans - for example, a higher down payment will obviously result in a lower monthly rate. The School has a limited amount of latitude in which to work with students to find the best rate.
Please be aware that tuition rates may change each year, so this quoted rate may differ. Each First Year Class is given the 3 year tuition rate for their cycle.
Do be aware that Payment Plan is a privilege. Students may explore numerous other options, such as loans through their financial institutions.
Qualifying for the payment plan option may help some students strengthen their credit profile. The payment plan contract may be a healthier financial choice for many students in contrast to taking on large loans to repay years later with interest rates mounting up.
Young students wishing to pursue the payment plan option, who are under the financial wing of their parents must utlize a contract with the school providing for their parents to co-sign for financial responsibility for their tuition. All prospective students should be aware that the Payment Plan is a legal contract, the participation in which would affect future credit ratings.
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN CREDIT UNION:
Our students and staff are eligible to open up their own personal accounts through the University of Michigan credit union. This benefit helps some students bank easier, and may open up facilitated opportunities for student loans which are not available at conventional banks.
FEES:
Please check your catalog for a list of school fees, including application for admittance fee, make-up class fees, Leave of Absence fee, late payment fees, paper fees, and Herb Lab Fees for second and third year. Be aware that the School charges a small fee when students request privileges- such as requiring the school to take extra time to administer exams which were missed, or to arrange for a Leave of Absence.
Students are expected to purchase all of their own books, and to prepare themselves to practice natural medicine by acquiring common equipment such as Iris viewing optical loupes, some additional herbs for assignments, bodywork supplies (blankets, pillows, sheets...), gear for ethnobotany (snips, gloves, footwear) - and to be prepared to make the purchases of books and equipment that naturally occur to inspired and engaged students during the course of a professional development program.
Please note that our school does not offer scholarships, nor do we offer any other type of financial arrangement- all tuition must be paid in full up front with a bank certified check or money order.
WORK EXCHANGE:
(Please note that this does not combine with payment plan options )
Limited work/study opportunities are available, at this time only to herbal studies students in 2012, or for 2nd and 3rd year ND students.
The most important aspect of the Work Exchange contract is that the School treats the work as an important job, requiring adherence to structure, promptness, and attention to detail as in any professional job.
In order to qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
~ Application and approval for admittance to the program
~ Payment in full of 25% program deposit
~ Must have ones's own reliable transportation, and use of own car for
program related errands with fuel reimbursement
~ Completion of ten day trial period
~ Ability to conform to designated work schedule and to honor our
need for promptness/attendance, as in a professional position
~ 3 references from previous work experiences
~ Unencumbered by outside responsibilities during work schedule- we
are unable to accommodate children, child care, pets or scheduling
changes for other jobs an applicant may have. Applicants must
commit to School work exchange needs for the duration of the work
exchange agreement, and have child care, transportation, and additional
job schedules, if any, in place to accommodate the Work Exchange
Contract. The School is unable to keep changing the work schedule of work exchange students- it is set as a professional job.
